Seasonal allgeries

Seasonal allergies, also know has hay fever is very common in children. Allergy symptoms usually occur in early spring and throughout the summer.

Symptoms of allergies include:

  • Clear runny nose
  • Itchy nose
  • Congestion
  • Frequent sneezing
  • Chronic cough
  • Red, watery eyes

Although there is no real cure for allergies, there are many ways to relieve your symptoms. Start by reducing your exposure to allergens:

  • Keep windows closed in your house and car
  • Stay indoors with pollen counts are high
  • Stay indoors on windy days
  • After playing outside- wash hands, change clothes and shower if possible
  • Keeping your house clean

If reducing your exposure to allergens have not relieved your symptoms, you may want to try allergy medication such as decongestants, antihistamines, nasal spray, eye drops. Please call our office so we can help you find the best medication for your child needs.

Utah Required Immunizations

Did you know in Utah you are required to be up to date on your immunization to start Kindergarten and 7th grade?

Required Immunizations to start Kindergarten:

  • 5 DTP/Dtap/DT/DTP
    • 4 doses ok if 4th given after 4th birthday
    • 3 doses ok if 3rd given after 7th birthday
  • 4 Polio (IPV)
    •  3 doses ok if 3rd given after 4th birthday
  • 2 MMR (Mumps, Measles, Rubella)
  • 3 Hepatitis B (HBV)
  • 1 Varicella (Chickenpox) –
    • History of disease OK, parent must sign pink immunization card
    • If student is 13 years or older when receiving 1st dose, then 2 doses required
  • 2 Hepatitis A (HAV)

Required Immunizations to start 7th grade:

Vaccines listed above plus-

  • 1 Tetanus/Diptheria/Pertussis (Tdap) Booster
  • 1 Meningococcal

Highly recommended additional immunizations:

  • 3 HPV (Human Papilloma Virus)- for both Boys and Girls
